About the Centro Canino

“Your chance to help the lost and abused animals of Mallorca”

Jane Reynolds, fundadora del Centro Canino Internacional

Established more than 20 years ago by British expat Jane Reynolds, (pictured right) the Centro Canino Internacional is now in its third decade of fighting for animal rights and helping to protect and care for abandoned and unwanted pets from all over Mallorca, but principally from the south-west and Palma city.

Over the years, we (but only with your very generous help) have saved literally thousands of dogs, cats, horses and donkeys from either neglect or physical cruelty.

Originally we were based near to the centre of Palma, on Calle Jesus, but in 2005, we were forced to leave our much loved home, to make way for a park. We’re moving to wonderful new premises just a 20-minute drive from the centre of Palma, in Es Pilori, which is close to the airport (see map).

The new site is specially designed and all the lost, abandoned or harmed dogs that come to us, will be treated with love, affection and respect.

It is always our aim to re-home any animals that come to us. A dog’s place is as a cherished member of a loving family, giving and receiving love and loyalty. But where that is not possible (say, if an animal is too old to find a new home, or past ordeals have given them behavioural problems) we always strive to give the animal as pleasant and as caring a home as possible, as a full time member of the shelter.

We never, ever, put a healthy dog to sleep. The only time we allow an animal to be destroyed is on strong advice from the vet, that to do so is in the animal’s best interest to stop pain and suffering.

Britain is very lucky. We have the RSPCA, Dogs Trust and many other well-financed brilliantly run, fantastic organisations that work so very hard to protect Britain’s stray and abandoned pets.

Mallorca has us, and a few other like-minded very under-funded hardworking rescue homes.

It is our aim to work hard at catching up. With your help, we want Mallorca to be an island oasis, where stray dogs, stray unwanted pets of any kind can be brought to us, cared for, returned to health if they’re unwell, and ultimately either be found a loving caring home, or be looked after by us.

Animal-lovers run Centro Canino Internacional. Please come and see us to see what we are trying to achieve, or please donate a little money, or your time, even if it’s just to stroke a stray abandoned dog, look him in the eyes, and tell him he’s a good boy.

Anything you can do for a lost or abandoned animal is better than you doing nothing. Please help us. Thank you.
