As planned, at 8 o’clock in the morning a team of police officers from Palma town hall arrived at our centre to inform us officially of the suspension of the withdrawal of animals that had been originally set for Feb 4.
We have also been informed that this withdrawal will now take place on 15 February at 11am.
Throughout this week we shall continue our legal battle and we will oppose the mayor’s decree.
We will continue to inform everybody of what happens over the next few days.
Many thanks for the hundreds of calls of support that we have received as well of thousands of emails. We would also like to thank the media for its support of our cause.
Be proud of all the good work you have done and how great the new centre looks. The island should be pleased to have such a wonderful shelter for animals.
Keep up the fight against those ignornant people!

I have emailed and faxed Palma Council daily to ask them why they are trying to close the Centro Canino & not had any sort of reply whatsoever, if a business was run this slapshod way, they’d be forced out of business within a week. If the dogs, cats and horses are taken then I’m certainly supporting the www.boycottpalma.com campaign

Oh God! I know exactly what you are faced with every single day. I am involved in trying to help the animals in Greece. I wish you and all the animals Good Luck.Michele UK

I thought that your island would have been prodominantly a christian island, how can people who call themselves christian put animals through suffering like that they out to be ashamed of themselves. When you see the look and the fear in an animals eys it so sad. At the end of the day the day , people that make these decision have to answer to god.

We are with you. I have emailed the major direct. I will keep this on our website.

As a degreed professional, international traveler and proud owner of five rescued canine companions, it is with great sadness that I have learned Palma Council is planning to forcibly close Centro Canino Internacional, and take away your animals to be killed. Spain is homeland to many of my relatives, friends and business associates, many of which are also strong supporters of Scooby – http://www.scoobymedina.com/, another animal refuge located in Spain. I have respectfully asked the Mayoress and the members of Palma Council to reconsider their decision. I will continue to keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers.

We were planning a visit to Mallorca this summer. We have learned about the plight of Centro Canino Internacional, and will absolutely change our plans if the Palma Council procedes to confiscate and euthenize the innocent animals which these people struggle so hard to care for.
Please support this wonderful organization, and do not allow this to happen now, or anytime.
Please email us at smtauger@aol.com so that we may learn of your decision in this regard.
Sincerely yours,
Mariah and Susan Tauger

I have been trying and trying to e-mail the Mayor and City Council at the e-mails given.
However, they have all been returned as the link isn’t recognized. I
tried re-sending everything to Centro Caninto Internactional but their mailbox is full so that won’t go through either. Please clear your mail box so you can receive other e-mails. Thank you.

I have e-mailed the Mayoress and the tourist board, and my MEP. I will NEVER give Palma my tourist bucks again if this senseless slaughter goes ahead, and I will campaign however i can to ensure the whole of the UK is aware of their policies! My sincerest thoughts and prayers are with you for this fight.

THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR YOUR UNCEASING EFFORTS at helping to save all the dogs, cats, puppies and kittens at the Centro Canino.
There’re 25 hours to go until we’re due to be closed down. PLEASE EMAIL Palma Council AGAIN urging them to stop what they’re doing, PLEASE stress that at stake, are not just the dogs/cats who are currently living safely & happily at the Centro Canino, but also the 10-12 dogs & 10-20 cats we take in, look after and re-home each & every week.
What happens next week if a dog is saved from men who use it for dog-fighting? Where will it go? Who will pay for a vet to take care of it? Who will care for it for months until it is is a mental & physical state to be successfully re-homed?
Not Palma Council that’s for sure.
Please email the council again & tell them you care, tell them you judge them and find their conduct unforgivable and unworthy of a modern city.
Please cc the email to as many addresses as you can (our suggestions are on the ‘Save the Canino’ page); that way there’s more chance that the right person will see your email.
Thank-you on behalf of all the dog/cats/puppies/kittens for everything you’ve done so far, but please don’t stop –
KEEP EMAILING & if possible, SEND A FAX to the Council in the next few days too.
You’ve done us (very very very) proud and we are really truly grateful. Happy Valentines Day, kiss your dog from me!!

I have e-mailed all the relevant authorities again today, along with the British Media and, once again, my MEP’s. We will keep fighting for you. My own rescue doggie has even blogged about your plight. We are praying for the reprieve you so justly deserve.

I sent an email to everyone on your list yesterday and know that at least four of my friends in San Diego have also sent emails. We will be checking the website tomorrow and hope that the Mayoress will change her position.
— Cindy feb 14, 17:24 #
I really want to (quickly) say thank-you to everyone but particularly the American animal-lovers we have contacted for support. The number of emails you’ve sent and the passion in those emails has been incredible. We can’t thank you enough and really believe that with a bit more continued support (& I do only mean emails or faxes, not money, we’re not after some sort of Centro Canino Marshall Plan or anything -Honest!) we can get Palma Council to see sense.
Everyone is being amazing, and we’re 100% grateful to everyones help from America, Britain, The Netherlands, Germany, Australia, New Zealand & beyond.
— andrew - Centro Canino feb 14, 17:53 #
If you can, please come along to the Centro Canino tomorrow (Friday 15th February) before 11am.
Even at this very late stage, we’re hoping for a ‘diplomatic’ solution but are not sure of the outcome. Palma Council apparently are still not 100% sure of your feelings about them closing down the Centro Canino, so if you’re able to email them again now, please do. ;-)
Thanks again for all your help.

Andrew (and all at Centro Canino)
I have sent off more last ditch e-mails today. I wish I could be there in person to support you all today, my heart and soul is there with you and i pray that the decision is reversed. The support for you in the UK is overwhelming. Stay strong.

Hi, Well…. All our dogs/cats are still safe and well at the shelter. No-one came to try & take them, so at the very least, they’re in for a nice weekend!
All the animals were very pleased to see so many people (our local supporters) today, lots more walks & treats for them all.
We’ll keep you posted on the website as to how things go next week. Your support has been overwhelming & we can’t thank you enough. I hope you all have a fantastic weekend, our animals will!

If you’re able, Baldea are organising a protest walk in Palma this Sunday (17th February) meeting at Paseo Borne at 12noon.
So bring your dog (we’re taking a lot of the Canino dogs) & have a stroll through Palma with us, in this good cause. Thanks.
